Craig 2009/2010 HRC SeriesThis season i am hoping to compete in all the rounds of The Arrow Wheels at the HRC Meetings.
The first round at Puke went without incident and i did my best Laptime with a 1.13.
The next round was at Hampton Downs and what a great Track it is,unfortunately the engine dropped a valve in the second race and completely destroyed itself!!
Luckily i had a spare car so i came back on Sunday and had another Race,as i was trying to sell the Red car i took it pretty easy(Have since sold it).
Had a spare engine under the bench which turned out to have forged pistons so we gave it a freshen and balance etc and put on a head that a mate(Stum) had built for his Capri.
Gained an extra 5 Hp
Changed the diff ratio
Built a new exhaust
Back to Hampton and the new engine performed really well,i was quiker than the first meeting and catching cars that i usually couldn't.
There is more to be gained as i get used to the track, it is a bit tricky in places.
Got a big shunt from a mate!(Thanks Bernard) stoved in the L/R of the car but kept going, bit of a nusiance to fix but not a big problem.
Next meeting was my first time at Taupo and the car went well,I could just hit the rev limiter in 5th gear on the back straight before braking.
An interesting track and i look forward to getting faster as i get to know it better.
My new head is ready but will leave fitting it until???
Have Built a new set of headers,no change in laptimes, should stick it back on the dyno but its not worth the cost as will have to dyno after i fit the new head.
Finished off the series with another round at Hampton Downs, a good weekend with no misshaps.
Got home washed the car and put a cover over it,have too much to do to spend any more time on it as i have a few Escort projects to finish for customers.
Would like to do the Taranaki Rally in June but i dont think i will have the time or $$$
